The "Ye Olde Map Maker" forums are intended to be a common area for Map Maker users and fans to chat with each other. We're a fun and lighthearted group who enjoys meeting new people and discussing our passion - Tabletop RPGs! That said, there are a few rules to keep in mind when using the forums:
1. Be Civilized
Don't create offensive, threatening, obscene, vulgar, abusive, or excessively profane posts. This includes starting (or participating in) "flame-wars". Sure, it may be intended as a joke, but we users can't hear inflection over the Internet. In the end, it's best to keep those witty one-liners to yourself.
2. Do Not Post Racist or Hateful Material
This includes unsavory comments about sex, gender, sexual orientations, religions, cultures, etc. Philosophical discussions are perfectly acceptable (if posted in the correct place), but offensive posts will not be tolerated. Again, we're here to have fun and discuss our passion for games. Behavior that interferes with the happiness and comfort of the Map Makers is unacceptable.
3. Do not post spam, ads, and junk.
Please, do not troll the boards. This type of material/behavior will be removed immediately and repeat offenders will be banned. In many circumstances your moderators will allow you to post sites and other materials that Map Makers might find useful; this may include links to character generators, tabletop gaming sites, and so on. Ultimately, when in doubt your best bet is to send a PM to a moderator.
4. Respect Others' Privacy and Belongings
This should be self-explanatory. Please don't post private messages or other correspondence on the boards. Don't reveal personal information about other users (and to be on the safe side, don't disclose your own personal information). Last but not least, don't post up materials that don't belong to you unless you have the owner's permission. We want this to be a safe place for Map Makers to have fun!
5. Keep Messages on Topic and Don't Cross-Post
Please post in the appropriate forum/thread for your topic and don't create new threads for already existing subjects. You can use the "search" feature to look for threads pertaining to the subject you'd like to discuss.
6. Moderators/Administrators ALWAYS Have the Final Say
Moderators and administrators reserve the right to edit, move, and delete posts. If you have a question about a moderator's decision, please speak to the moderator in private. Do not start a forum dispute or debate about the decision. Lastly, the moderators and administrators determine rules for the forums. We'd like to think that we've covered the most important rules here, but there's bound to be someone who finds a loophole or breaks some unspoken rule; therefore the administrators have the right to decide what behavior is considered acceptable or unacceptable on the "Ye Olde Map Maker" boards.
Your administrators take the above rules very seriously. Rule breakers (generally) will be warned of their first offense. Repeat offenders will be temporarily or permanently banned. Keep in mind that serious offenses may result in a ban with or without a previous warning.
Above all, treat your fellow Map Makers with respect and dignity. Again, we want this to be a safe and fun place to chat with our gaming peers. Remember that golden rule and you're sure to have a great time here!
